Must-see stops for this place.

Central Square Marktplatz
01 Town Center

Central Square Marktplatz

You will walk right past this area on your was to the Village Viewpoint but make sure to poke around the stores on your way back. There are local souvenirs to discover, restaurants, and even a little grocery store.

Pro Tip

This is a super touristy place but you can sneak away from the crowds in some of the more hidden restaurants. They do tend to close early.

Rührwerk Bakery
02 Food

Rührwerk Bakery

My guide told me this bakery has the best Habsburger which is a vanilla egg tart with a custard filling. Not usually my kind of pastry but I absolutely loved this. The Schaumrolle described as a puff pastry filled with egg white and sugar was also very popular.

Pro Tip

I waited in like for about 20/25 minutes and I would do it again!

Village Viewpoint
03 Lookout

Village Viewpoint

I highly recommend walking to the end of Hallstatt. It takes no more than 10 minutes to get to a beautiful lookout point over the water. You get a great view of the church. It's called the "Classic Village Viewpoint" on Apple Maps. Past that is mainly just a residential area.

Pro Tip

Go here first and then explore the town. Big tour groups get dropped off in Hallstatt and the lookout can get busy. If you see a big group heading into town, try and beat them to the viewpoint!
