Torrent Bay to Mārahau
01 Hike

Torrent Bay to Mārahau

This is the only section of the famous Abel Tasman hike that I’ve done. If you are doing this section, be sure to check the tides. Torrent Bay can only be crossed at low tide.

Pro Tip

The full track can be completed in 3–5 days, with several points along the way where water taxis can drop you off or pick you up. Wilsons is the main company operating water taxi services in the area. If you’re planning to do the full track, it’s worth planning ahead. Huts and cabins book out quickly if you’re not camping. Water is available along the route but must be boiled before drinking. Wilsons also offers guided trips that include food and accommodation. There are plenty of ways to do the hike depending on how much time you have and your budget.

Wainui Falls Track

A great way to explore an inland section of the national park. It’s an easy track that takes about an hour round trip, with a swing bridge and beautiful water along the way.
