Norwegian Sauna
Step into a traditional Norwegian sauna, plunge yourself into the freezing fjord, and repeat!
Pro Tip
Prices and sauna styles vary, but most include changing rooms, outdoor showers, and ladders for easy access to the fjord. I went in the winter, and while the water was freezing, it made returning to the sauna even more rewarding. Bring flip-flops, as the icy ground can be painfully cold between sauna sessions. I also recommend booking in advance, especially during peak times.
Munch Museum
See three variations of The Scream, one of the world's most recognizable paintings. To limit light exposure, the museum rotates which version is on display every 30 minutes. During your visit, you can see the painting, a print, and a sketch.
Pro Tip
Head to the 4th floor first, where you'll find the three versions of The Scream. View one, explore the rest of the museum, then return to the gallery to see another version on display. This gives you the best chance to see at least two during your visit.
Holmenkollen
Head to the top of this massive ski jump for incredible views of Oslo. Learn about the history of the sport and explore exhibits featuring Olympic moments at one of the world's oldest and most iconic ski jumping venues.
Pro Tip
Tickets cost around $20. It can be very windy at the top, so if you're visiting in the winter, be sure to wear plenty of layers.
Norwegian Parliament/Grand Hotel
Situated across from one another, these are two of Oslo's most significant buildings. The Storting is Norway's parliament, where the country's laws are debated and passed, while The Grand Hotel hosts the annual Nobel Peace Prize awarding ceremony.
